After more than 18 years as an occupational therapist, Dr. Tara Konradi, OTD, OTR/L, saw firsthand how often older adults were given equipment that functioned well but felt clinical, bulky, or disconnected from the life they wanted to continue living. As a former Director of Rehab, she selected adaptive equipment daily for patients in skilled nursing facilities and repeatedly felt the same frustration: where was the thoughtful design?

That question became personal when her own mother required mobility and adaptive equipment during her final months at home. Even in hospice, she cared about how she looked and how she felt. She was the kind of woman who put on lipstick before greeting visitors. Choosing equipment that preserved her sense of self while supporting her physical needs made a meaningful difference.
